City of Brockton - Brockton Public Schools - Basan Nembirkow * Superintendent of Schools
October 17, 2008 To whom it may concern, Community service has always been important to the City of Brockton. Making a difference in people’s lives is essential. Our immense diversity truly brings out our motto “The City of Champions.” The DECA organization at Brockton High School has chosen to run and organize a community service event to benefit a local family. Part of the DECA philosophy is vocational understanding, civic consciousness, social intelligence, and leadership development. Our Community Service Project provides an opportunity for our DECA members to develop a better understanding of the role civic activities have in society, to make a contribution to a community service or charity and to learn and apply the principles of the numerous components of marketing and management. With this said, we would like to ask for your help. We have entered into this DECA Community Service Project in order to help out the Chauppetta family who has thirteen year-old twin boys, Andrew and Troy, who are stricken with muscular dystrophy. The Chauppetta family could use help with their medical expenses and are also in need of a ramp for their car to easier access for the wheelchairs of the boys. Making a difference in this family’s life is our goal and with your help we can make it happen. DECA is going to holding a dinner charity event in support of the family on November 15, 2008 at Mulligan’s Restaurant in Brockton. Tickets will be sold for this buffet dinner along with along with hosting a raffle to further help contribute towards helping the family. It would be greatly appreciated if you could make some sort of donation such as money, gift certificates, or items that we could raffle off. All of the proceeds we make at the event would go towards the family in reaching our goal of raising $5,000. Your donation would be for a good cause and would help out this family that is in need. I hope you take the time to considerate; DECA and the family would be very grateful.
